About the Event

Join us in making Valentines memories with a cookie decoration class for you and someone you love.

In this 1.5 hour, hands-on class we will decorate 6 cookies with designs inspired by love... and donuts.

We’ll start with a quick intro about our cookie dough and royal icing recipes, my favorite ingredients and supplies. Next, you will learn the step-by-step technique on how to flood and decorate your cookies with an opportunity to practice so you can get a feel for the piping bags. We'll share tips and tricks and will be available to answer any questions that come up all though the class. Each station will be provided with everything you will need from pre-baked cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in. We will wrap up the class by packaging up your treats for you to gift away to someone you love or maybe just keep for yourself.

What is included in the ticket?

You will leave with 6 decorated cookies in a box alongside a special decorated cookie from Homemade by Harris, a royal icing recipe, and a cookie cutter! Tickets are sold per person, with a minimum of one adult per station. Class must meet minimum # of participants to move forward, or it will be cancelled and a refund will be provided.

Meet Justina, the creator and owners of Homemade By Harris

From a young age, Justina knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up - a baker! She completed VCC’s Baking and Pastry Arts-Patisserie Program, and went on to gain years of experience working in the industry.

At 29 after working all over the lower mainland, she realized that the place she was dreaming of was a bakery she had created in her mind. Cut to Homemade By Harris- her happy place. A space for her to be herself and create fun, imaginative, and delicious cookies for everyone to enjoy

FAQs

Does the class include baking?

This is a decorating class only – no baking involved.

Are your classes suitable for kids?

Yes and no. Our recommended age for class is 12+. Children age 8-11 are welcomed when accompanied by a registered adult. 

We are offering two family friendly classes on Feb 11 and an 18+ class on Feb 13. Each class has 8 stations available.

  • Each family class station can accommodate 1 adult and (up to) 2 children ages 8 to 18 years old. Please note: This class is not suitable for kids under 8 because it is a lot of instructions and following directions.
  • Each 18+ station can accommodate 2 adults over the age of 18

What happens after I purchase a spot

You’re all set! About a week before your class, we will send you an email to confirm the class details, location, directions, etc. Just show up at the class time ready for some decorating fun. 

Can I take video during the class?

We do NOT allow video recording of our classes, but photos are encouraged. Fee free to post and tag us in your social media posts though!

What is the refund policy?

There are no refunds or transfers to other classes unless the class is cancelled.

If you cannot attend you are welcomed to have someone else come in your place. Please contact us as early as possible before the class so we have the correct participant name and email in the records.

Are the cookies nut free?

There are no nuts in the sugar cookie recipe, but they are made in a kitchen that is not nut-free. If the participant is allergic to nuts, eggs or gluten, please let us know prior to signing up.

Looking to try something different this year? Send these beautiful little cookie cards to school, the office, or anywhere else you feel like spreading the love.

These little cards are pre-order only, and will be available to pre-purchase until Tuesday, February 7 at 5pm. They will be available for pick up on Monday, February 13 during regular store hours. 

Order as many or as little as you want, and share some local cookie love to the people you care about. 

Ingredients:

  • Sugar cookie: All purpose flour, granulated sugar, salted butter, eggs, pure vanilla extract, salt, baking powder
  • Royal icing: icing sugar, meringue powder, clear vanilla extract, cream of tartar, water
